About Department
Population Welfare Program started its activities in Tribal District Bajaur in 2005 with the primary objective to provide qualitative Family Planning services to the local community so as to improve mother-child and create awareness about the rapid growing population and its impacts on society.
Organization Structure
At present Population Welfare Department Tribal district Bajaur consists of:
- District Population Welfare Office (DPWO).
This is the administrative component of Population Welfare Department, mainly responsible for Planning, organizing, administering and reporting all activities of the department at the District level.
This component is headed by District Population Welfare Officer and is located at District Head Quarter Hospital Khar.
- Reproductive Health Service Center Type-A (RHSC-A).
This is the Second important component of Population Welfare Department and is mainly responsible for providing Family Planning related services to the community, which includes, contraceptive medicines and counseling to all those eligible couples who wants to limit their family or space their child birth.
At present this component is located at District Head Quarter Hospital Khar.
- Family Welfare Centers (FWC).
This is the main Component of Population Welfare Department at the field level. Its provide Family planning services like contraceptive medicines, Counseling and awareness about the birth spacing and its importance for the mother-child health. Its also provide free medical treatment to mother and child in minor common diseases.
At present there are Five (05) Family Welfare Centers in Tribal District Bajaur.
- Mobile Service Unit (MSU).
This component is responsible for providing Family Planning service in that far-flanged area in the field where there either exist no Family welfare center or where people have difficulties in approaching the existing Family Welfare Centers.
This Component holds frequents free medical camps in these areas and not only provide theme Family Planning Services but also free medical treatment and free medicines in minor common diseases.
Functions
- Promotion of Population Welfare motivational services by establishing contacts with the clients at all levels
- Promotion of Family planning Health services clinical and Non-clinical contraception at District level through Family Welfare Canters(FWCs),Reproductive Health Services Centers-A(RHSC-A) and Mobile Service Unit(MSU).
- Supply of contraceptives and medicines to the desirous clients in the District through field staff.
- Promotion of community involvement and active participation in Population Welfare Programmed through holding Seminars, Workshops and different consultative sessions at the District Level.
- Monitoring, evaluation and reporting of Population Welfare Program activities at District Level.
Objectives
Medium Term:
- Achieve Universal access to safe and quality reproductive health/family planning service by2020.
- Increase contraceptive prevalence rate (CPR) to 42 % by 2020.
- Raise Modern CPR to 28% by 2020
- Reduce unmet need for family planning to 15% by 2020
Long Term:
- Raise contraceptive Prevalence Rate(CPR) to 55% by 2032
- Decrease total fertility rate from 4.8 to 3032 births per women by 2020 and attain replacement level fertility (2.1 berths per women) by 2032.
- Reduce annual Population Growth rate from 3.5% to 1.3% by 2032
- Encourage increase investment for acceleration of female education empowerment to facilitate attainment of Population sector related objectives.
Vision/Future Plan
Vision:
Achievement of Replacement level Fertility by 2035 and to promote a prosperous, healthy, educated and knowledge-based society where pregnancy is planned every child is nurtured and cared for, and all citizens are provided opportunity and choice for informed and voluntary choice.
Future Plan:
· Attain a reduction in fertility through Universal access and improvement in quality of family planning services
· Promote birth spacing to improve health of mothers and children.
· Address various dimensions of the population issues with in national and provincial laws ,development priorities while remaining with in our socio-cultural norms.
Promote family planning as a Reproductive Health right based on informed and voluntary choice.

69537 Couples have been protected against unwanted pregnancies.
· 39194 Clients have been provided mother and child health care services.
· 43896 Patients have been provided treatment of General ailments.
3190 Eligible Couple have been registered and provided counseling regarding safe family planning
