About Department.

Fisheries Department was extended to the Tribal District Bajaur in 2010, with the aim and purpose to promote fish farming in the whole district and to establish fish farms in various and suitable areas of the District. Fisheries department plays a vital role in the training of the fish farmers, and to develop their skill in fish farming, so that a lucrative revenue can be collected from the farming.

Organization Structure

Since its extending to the District, Assistant Director is Head of the Department. With subordinate officials, ARO, AWF, Fisheries Watchers etc.

Functions

Fisheries Department Establish Fish Farms in feasible areas, Stock Fish Seeds in Natural Water Resources and Provide Trainings to Farmers regarding Fish Farming.

Objective

Promotion of Fish Farming in the District.

Vision/ Future Plan

Establishment of Carp Fish Hatchery in Bajaur, Farming of Trout Fish in Cold water resources.

Achievements

We have established more than 20 Fish Farms in Different areas of Bajaur, Stocked about one Lac Fish Seeds in Dams and Natural Water Resources, Trained about 300 Farmers on Fish Farming, Establishment of Model Fish Farm in Pashat Tehsil Salarzai, Establishment of Watcher Hut in Talai Dam, Construction of AD Office in Civil Colony Khar...

Fish Farms

Fisheries Deptt. has established 24 Fish Farms in Different Tehsil of District Bajaur,  one Model Fish Farm has been established in Beautiful Area of Pashat Tehsil Salarzai. Moreover, different species of fish found in Bajaur naturally, which are Brilius, Channa, Eel, etc. the Fisheries Deptt. Are also stocking Gross carp, Silver Carp, Rohu and Mori fishes.
